Some days, I’d be completely in “logic mode” — getting on with what needed to be done, blocking out how I felt. Other days, I’d be sat in my emotions, unable to stop crying or even get out of bed.
It was exhausting.
I overprocessed everything until my mind couldn’t think anymore. My mood was all over the place — my lows were so low I felt lost, and my highs were built on fear, trying to hold everything together so no one would see the cracks.
Then the emotions would crash in again.
And the cycle would start over.
It’s like living on repeat in a constant state of fight, flight, freeze, or shutdown. My mind was my own prison. Every little thing distracted me, my attention span shrank, and catastrophic thoughts took over. I was tired but could never really rest. I searched for reasons in life to explain why I felt this way, which only weighed me down more.
